Join us for a fun, fall weekend in Lead! Check back often as we are still adding events to this amazing weekend of fun.

Following is all the fun activities we did in 2023!

Friday, 9/22

4-6pm - September Chamber Mixer. Northland Auto Center will be having a chamber mixer and ribbon cutting complete with free BBQ and beverages. All are welcome (you don't need to be a Chamber member!)
7pm - Laugh in Lead at Homestake Opera House featuring Alan Bromwell. Purchase tickets here.

Saturday, 9/23

10am-8pm - Fall Crawl. Get your Fall Crawl card at participating businesses. Collect all the stamps and be entered to win the grand prize! Participating businesses include Black Hills Mining Museum, Lead-Deadwood Arts Center, Bob's Silver Star, Wandering Mynds, Greenfield Pub, Rustic Nook Bakery Outlaw Tacos, Sanford Lab Homestake Visitor Center, Miners & Merchants, Aspire Boutique and Lotus Up. More businesses are being added.

10am - High Society Tour. Follow a free guided tour on Main Street featuring the high society of Lead's past. Meet at That Place in Lead 15 minutes prior.

10am - Self-Destruction Tour. Learn about Lead's dark past including murders, scandals, horrific deaths and hidden lives. Meet at Aspire Boutique 15 minutes prior. Free tour.

10am-5pm - Moonlight Over Lead. Free art project for ages 2-18 at Miners' Tin Cup.

12pm-2pm - Rug Hookers. Traditional wool rug hooking demonstrations at Lead-Deadwood Arts Center.

12:30pm - High Society Tour. Follow a free guided tour on Main Street featuring the high society of Lead's past. Meet at That Place in Lead 15 minutes prior.

12:30pm - Self-Destruction Tour. Learn about Lead's dark past including murders, scandals, horrific deaths and hidden lives. Meet at Aspire Boutique 15 minutes prior. Free tour.

2pm - Laugh in Lead at Homestake Opera House featuring local comedians including Mike Klatt, Sheldon Starr, Tyler Corbine & Tyler Mathieson. Purchase tickets here.

3pm-5pm - Street Cleanup. Earn community service hours by beautifying our streets. Meet at the Christian Ministry Center.

3pm-5pm - Plant Swap. Bring a starter plant, succulent, houseplant, veggie plant or flower to swap with another plant lover. Inside Gnarly Pine Makers' Space.

5pm-6:30pm - Spaghetti Dinner. Free community dinner at Christian Ministry Center. Donations appreciated.

5:30pm-6:30pm - Pegie (Margaret) Douglas performs at the Greenfield Pub. The Life & Music of Badger Clark, South Dakota’s First Poet Laureate.  This is an hour-long program narrating the life of Badger Clark interspersed with many of his poems set to music.

7pm - Laugh in Lead at Homestake Opera House featuring Chad Prather. Purchase tickets here.

Sunday, 9/24

10am & 2pm - Lawrence County Hospital and Poor Farm Tours. Tour the county hospital and poor farm that is located at the Central City KOA campground. For transportation, meet at the Visitor Center parking lot half hour prior to tour. This is a free tour.

10am-1pm - Transportation between Homestake Trailheads. Hike from one end of the Homestake Trail to the other without having to worry about transportation. A shuttle will be running between Lead and Deadwood every half hour free of charge, sponsored by Deadwood Cab. Bike rack will be available on the shuttle. The Homestake Trail takes about one hour from end to end and the hike is sponsored by Northern Hills Recreation.

Entire Weekend

Join the Dakota Shivers Brewing Mutt Club on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. When you join this exclusive club you get:
• To support our local Twin City Animal Shelter with a portion of membership fees

Enjoy the fall colors on and off road! Take a Sunday drive, hike in the Canyon, bike the Mickelson trail or get off the beaten path in a UTV. Access the leaf peeper map here.

Plus, open container on Main Street from 11am to 11pm Friday-Sunday , shopping at our excellent retail locations, and delicious food and libations at our colorful restaurants and bars.

Stop in at Miners' Tin Cup and say "I am falling in love with Lead" to receive a free heart cookie cutter (100 available). Receive 20% off everything in the store all weekend.
