Good Morning Lead!!
Are you enjoying all the snow we’ve had? One of my least favorite parts of winter is how dirty it can make everything. So having a fresh dusting every morning (or every few days) keeps stuff looking beautiful and sparkly. I’m really enjoying the snow we’ve had this year, and so much of our local economy depends on the snow! People come from all over the country just to enjoy the snow we have! Can you believe that? And the more snow we get the more people come to enjoy it, how lucky are we who get to LIVE here?!
Have you been out enjoying winter? Sometimes when I feel like I might not be able to handle being cooped up inside any longer, I try to get out and enjoy doing something that I can only do in the winter. And don’t forget Snow Jam at the Tomahawk Country Club! Northern Hills Recreation made awesome groomed trails there for non motorized sports, season and day passes available.
And another positive thing – the days are getting longer!! Have you noticed? Sometimes I honestly feel surprised that it’s 5:00 and still broad daylight!

Today, Thursday 2/20/20 (a golden day!!)
12pm – Preservation Thursday with Deadwood History. Here’s what they have to say about today’s presentation: “From April to August of 1898, Ida Crouch-Hazlett, a professional woman suffrage organizer with the National American Woman Suffrage Association (NAWSA), toured the mining towns of the Black Hills. She traveled by herself through these communities, attempting to revive local suffrage organizations, develop leadership, and raise funds for the statewide campaign. Throughout her travels, she corresponded regularly with the leadership of the state Equal Suffrage Association, updating them on her successes and perceived failures. These letters not only document the ups and downs of life on the campaign trail, they also provide unique insight into the 1898 campaign, the struggles that existed between the state and national suffrage organizations, and the difficulties of campaigning in a rural state. The lecture will be presented by Black Hills State University Professor Kelly Kirk. Homestake Adams Research and Cultural Center; admission by donation.”
4-6pm – Also today, our FEBRUARY MIXER! this time it’s at Latchstring Inn at Spearfish Canyon Lodge! We’ve changed the time to help make it accessible to people so we hope you’ll come enjoy a beautiful drive through Spearfish Canyon! I might have a little bear with me.
