How Will You Light Up Lead?

Happy Halloween!

It hardly feels like October… I’d like to say I think all this winter weather means we’re owed an early and very warm spring but… like most things in life it’s best to never feel that anyone owes you anything, because they don’t and the weather least of all. Boooo…..

This winter weather does have me feeling festive and thinking about all my fun Thanksgiving and Christmas plans coming up! If you haven’t heard I wanted to tell you about our big new event this December – LIGHT UP LEAD!

I don’t think it’s a secret that I love Lead. I love the snow, I love winter, and I love living stacked on the side of a hill in our cozy mountain village. I love getting up while it’s still dark and sitting on the couch with husband drinking coffee and looking at all the glowing lights across the way. Yes, it does seem extra romantic since it’s still new this year but… I love it! And I want everyone to get to experience that same feeling this Holiday Season! Which is why the Chamber is hosting a light decorating contest. We’re asking residents of Lead to decorate their hearts out, then we’re going to invite all our friends from far and wide to take a trip down memory lane and go light viewing on our amazing salted/sanded/plowed streets. Looking at lights is a dying holiday activity and I want people to take a pause in their busy schedules and enjoy our beautiful town with their favorite people.

The grand prize will be $1,000 (yes you read that right) to the house/residence deemed most creatively and best decorated. We have a few other prizes to give away so even if you don’t win the grand prize you can still win $250 or an amazing prize basket. This event is hosted by Black Hills Energy, Ace Hardware of Lead and First Interstate Bank with extra support from our annual sponsors and Twin City Hardware.

You can find all the details, rules and information here: www.LeadMeThere.org/LightUpLead and starting tomorrow, you can grab registration forms at Ace Hardware. (Free and discounted registrations with Ace receipts!).

I can’t wait to see what you all have up your sleeves!
