Breaking Records

Hello!

I hope you’re having a great week – there have been some bright spots, despite the fact that we’ve already gotten 50″+ of snow (our yearly average is 200″ … looks like the Farmers Almanac was on target so far.)

Last summer when the city was working on their 2020 budget we all saw the increase in sales tax in Lead. It was very exciting to see that number climb higher and higher. Commissioner David Vardiman wagered one Fat Tire with Mike Stahl, the city manager, that Lead would exceed the $800k mark. Little did any of us realize we’d bust through that number in mid October (at the end of the month sales tax was almost at $850k). We celebrated after the City Commission meeting this week in City Hall (proper permits were obtained beforehand) when Mike Stahl treated everyone to a beer.

Now, we wonder, could we make the one million mark by the end of 2019?? This is the most sales tax ever recorded – we’re making history here!

It’s looking like an amazing decade coming up for us in Lead – the 20’s are really going to be roaring!
