Stay Frosty, Lead

Good frosty morning to you!

You know what great stories have in common? Lots and lots of conflict, problems and stress. It’s not really a good story if there isn’t some problem to solve – it’s boring! Part of what I love about living in a place with winter is that it provides an element of conflict. It makes life interesting! We had our first snow this week, and while it was pretty much just a skiff, it reminds us that winter is coming.

At this time last year I was going through several huge changes in my life. They were stressful and more than a little nerve wracking, but coming upon the anniversary of those events I am so glad that things opened up – because the problems presented themselves I could have a bigger life than I ever imagined. Very often conflict sets us free to explore other solutions for our lives – solutions that are too scary without necessity.

If you need an example just remember our amazing Annual Banquet this year, when we got that two foot snow storm. We decided to go on with or without snow and ended up having an amazingly wonderful time – but a time that would not have been nearly so magical or memorable if the weather had been perfect.

So as you move through life this week, and this winter – remember how great those problems make our lives. They are gifts for exciting adventures, great memories and amazing connections with people who might not have come into our lives otherwise.
