Summer, We Hardly Knew Ye

Hiya!

I recently had a friend move to Lead from out of state. She came from a big city in a big state. After being her almost five months she keeps remarking about how she loves that whenever she goes out and about she runs into people she knows. “It’s like I get to hang out with friends even when I’m just running errands!” It’s particularly striking to her since she lived such an anonymous life in the big city before.

Thanks Lead, for making life a party!

Here’s what happening this week:

Today, Thursday 8/29:

7:15am – Shepherd of the Hills Men’s Breakfast – home made food, great fellowship, good times. All welcome! They meet in the basement.

8am-6pm – Lynn’s is having their Fill-it-Fresh event. Go get a paper bag (provided), fill it as much as you can (limits apply) with the sale produce and it’s just $20! This two day even is Thursday and Friday (but you may want to go early today so you can get the good stuff – raspberries anyone?!) This is only happening at the Lead Lynn’s.

3-4:30pm –  Summer’s very last pie social. (Can we even call this weather summer anymore?) Homemade pies from Cathy Enderby and Susan Anderson, and ice cream. And Jerry promised to bring his guitar down and play for us. If you haven’t gotten to come down to Manuel Brother’s Park, this is your last chance!

Friday, 8/29
5pm – The Hearst Library is having their Adult Summer Reading program Wrap Party. If you were participating in the reading event come down and enjoy a great potluck (bring a thing) and some literary cocktails!

Saturday, 8/31
Stampmill Restaurant and Saloon’s last day before closing for the winter. Go out and give them a run for their money! We’ll miss their cozy winter trivia nights. But hope they have a great renovation “break” and look forward to when they return to regular hours next spring!

Monday, 9/2 – Labor Day! What fun things are you using this weekend to accomplish? I think we might be getting things ready for free dump days (Sept 5-7) and trying to clean out the basement. Riveting, I’m sure.

Tuesday, 9/3
5pm – Lead City Commission Meeting, City Hall

6:30pm – Free Poker, Hangar 7 Lounge and Blackstone Inn and Suites

Wednesday, 9/4
4pm – Cadillac Jacks is having a pop up hiring event. They’re bringing their bus to our parking lot, so if you’re looking for a job bring yourself and your resume and talk to them. They’ll have goodie bags and snacks!

7pm – Rod & Gun Club meeting, at the clubhouse. All welcome.

Save the Dates:
Friday, 9/6
5pm – Miners’ Tin Cup on Main Street is hosting their First Friday Lead night with special artist, Bob Wilson! More details on our events calendar, but this is a great time to get out and enjoy Main Street and hang out with Dennis and Amy!

6pm – Kiwanis club is hosting their annual Prospector Bowl! This year it’s a mini golf tournament. Teams of 4 can register with Mike Stahl by calling the city offices. The fundraiser will be supporting the remodel of Mountain Top Field!

September is going to be a little crazy! Check out our events calendar for the whole month and more details on each of these events: https://business.leadmethere.org/events/calendar/2019-09-01

Misc. Notes:
