The Hills Are Alive With The Sound Of Money

Howdy!

I have a love/hate relationship with Rally. Last week I was getting coffee and I asked the girls at Lotus Up if they were ready for the nuttiness. We sighed and girded our collective loins. There were some bikers standing in line behind me and the lady jovially said, “Hey now!” I quickly explained that we love the Rally (economically, if nothing else) but it’s just a smidge overwhelming for us to have our state doubled in population in just a few counties.

All told the Rally is good people, most of whom are fabulous tippers! Many of our businesses depend on the last hurrah of the summer before the shoulder season hits, but I live in terror that I might kill someone with my car, or have to watch someone slide down the road to their death in front of me. That said, it’s only a week(ish), and that week is almost done. So if you’re a big fan, get your gettin’ and soak it up. And if you’ve left for the week we’re excited to see your face again soon when you come out of hiding! And for the businesses, I hope you made ALL the monies!!

Here’s what going on this week:
Today, Thursday 8/8

7am-11am Biker Breakfast at the Christian Ministry Center hosted by the Methodist church. This goes through Friday so there’s still time to get a hot meal! Pancakes, eggs, meats, coffee, oj… They even have gluten-free pancakes! Everyone is welcome, including non bikers.

11-8pm $2 Pounders on the Patio – Every year a few of our fine citizens (headed up by Rich Quail, Chamber member) get together and sell beer on the Stampmill patio to fundraise for a local organization. In the past few years they’ve raised enough money to put in the musical playground at Manuel Brother’s Park (they just finalized some musical flowers). This year they’re raising money for Northern Hills Recreation Association. So go check it out, support a great cause, and enjoy very reasonably priced 16oz beers! This event will go through Saturday.

3pm Pie social!
Yes, we’re doing this during rally! Come visit! Do you have great ideas for the Chamber? Things you’d like to see happen? This is your chance to bend my ear all the while enjoying homemade pie – this week the pie is donated by Nancy from Dakota Spur hotel!

Monday, 8/12
10am – Alcohol Ink Class at the Lead-Deadwood Arts Center. This workshop is returning after a popular first year. There are still spots! Call 605-584-1461 for more info.

Tuesday, 8/13
5pm – LEAD LIVE! This is the very last event of the summer so don’t miss. This month the Handley Recreation theme is military and first responder appreciation. Vendors, music, food, bounce houses, ALL the fun!

5pm – This event will also be our August Chamber Mixer! Come to our booth and see how the Chamber might be better able to help your business. Already a member? Grab your two free drink tickets on us!

5pm – Library book club at the library. Meets once a month, and can be a great way to get back into reading or break your reading rut! Join us!

6:30pm – Poker for Fun at Hangar 7 Lounge at Blackstone Lodge & Suite. Come enjoy some poker practice with a friendly group of people. They meet every Tuesday evening.

And that’s it for the week! Check out the full calendar here for complete details and for more fun coming up! https://business.leadmethere.org/events/calendar/

Stay safe out there through this week and also post rally week!
