De-Scrungeing Life

Happy Sunny Morning!

Can you believe we’ve almost made it through March? I’ve mentioned before that March is my twelfth favorite month (followed closely by my eleventh favorite month, April). These are the dull drums of the year. On the plus side, the days are longer, the snow is disappearing, and even the storms are short lived. But melting snow also means that everything looks dirty and the wind blown trash is beginning to poke through like the first crop of the season.

I’m ready for the start of a new season and say goodbye to the dust and road dirt that seems to have dulled everything like looking through a dirty window. I’m hoping for some heavy rain to wash clean the salt and dirt from the streets.

In advance of the spring holidays, husband and I have been doing some deep cleaning at home. It’s amazing how much dust slowly accumulates without you really noticing. Once you clean the scrunge off of everything it’s stunning how sparkly and refreshed a room looks. I once heard how outer order gives you inner calm (Gretchin Rubin). You all have seen enough hoarders episodes to be stressed out just by that! Cleaning the house is also clearing my head from the cobwebs that seem to have accumulated mentally. The rain and our amazing thunderstorms will be here soon and our town will look beautiful again!

The First Interstate Bank Lead Deadwood Community Foundation is holding their 9th annual Chili Feed on 4/22 from 5-7pm at Deadwood Mountain Grand. They are looking for chili sponsors (categories are Best Chili and Most Unique Chili). If you’re interested in cooking a chili please call Oz to register (605)591-9821 before 4/8.

This is a good time to spring clean your website! Sometimes even dust accumulates there! Check your links and make sure that you’re not linking to our old Visitor Center link www . HomestakeVisitorCenter . com [that is NOT a link]. It has been taken over by somebody fairly spammy and gross, but sadly there’s not much we can do about it besides warn you. Please consider replacing with our current Visitor Center website: www.SanfordLabHomestake.com

If your business or organization has events happening please let Bryan know! We do our best to keep our community calendar up to date but with several hundred members things can slip through the cracks. If you let us know what’s going on, we update the calendar, the daktronics board, this email and other venues for publicizing Lead things.

Have you spring cleaned yet? Maybe this weekend you can clean the thing you’ve been putting off – maybe the washing machine gasket, the greasy shelf above the stove, the bowl of the light fixture that always has dead flies in it. Wash the curtains, clean the ceiling fans and vacuum under the bed. You’ll feel so good!
