The Growly Sound of Money

Good (Almost) Rally Morning!

It’s Rally time in the Hills (by which I mean almost the entire month of August). Do you love it? Do you hate it? I always find it funny that it brings such deep visceral responses from people. I’m not a motorcycle rider, and am mostly terrified of the prospect (it’s soooo dangerous!). I don’t like concerts or crowds or baking in the sun, but I can’t deny the extra pop fizzle and crack of this time. People are thrilled to be here, excited to be hanging out with their friends and enjoying our beautiful Black Hills. Aren’t we lucky to get to live here once everyone is gone? I hope you enjoy this party week in whatever way you best like!

_____ Here’s what happening in little old Lead this week

Thursday, 8/5 – 4-6pm, Pie Social on the Ray Davis Patio Ring! This will be the Chamber’s last pie social for the summer! Come hang out with us, and even if you don’t really want/need pie (well… let’s not answer that) we’ll be there to hang out! Shepherd of the Hills is contributing the pies again, which we’ll give away by the slice for whatever donation feels good to you.

Saturday, 8/7 – 10am-2pm, Basic Navigation and Survival Course with Explore Fitness & Adventures. Come learn all the things about wilderness survival and go on an adventure with them! $29 call and reserve your spot! (605) 389-3551

Saturday, 8/7 – 5pm, Free Community Dinner @ Lead Assembly of God. Come enjoy dinner with them.

Sunday, 8/8 – 7-11am, Biker Breakfast at the Christian Ministry Center. Lead Trinity United Methodist church is bringing back their classic rally event! You don’t need to be a biker to enjoy all the pancakes you can eat! Base price is $7/pp, event runs Sunday-Friday

Sunday, 8/8 – 1-5pm, Biker Tunes & Brews at Aspire Boutique next to the Visitor Center. Enjoy live music, vendors, food trucks and more fun! Every afternoon through Friday!

Tuesday, 810 – 10am, Join Explore Fitness & Adventures for a group ride in the Black Hills. Take the most scenic routes in the Black Hills, led by experienced local bikers. Start in Sturgis | $39 per person, includes the guide, snacks, water and park passes but not lunch. Call (605) 389-3551 to reserve or for more info.

Open Container will be from Dakota Shivers Brewing all the way to the Visitor Center parking lot Sunday-Friday from noon to midnight! Don’t let the party stop – explore our entire Main Street!

_____ News & Notes this week

Please be careful when you’re driving this week. Rally is shaping up to be pretty large this year and it’s always good to put the phone down (even if you weren’t holding it), stop having heated conversations in the car, and PAY ATTENTION! People are unfamiliar with our roads, and they tend to do goofy things – be ready for the unexpected. Even if an accident wasn’t your fault, it’d be terrible to be a part of it. Driving is serious business that we often forget to take very seriously. Preaching over. :*
